Through I am sure most of us are aware of this after looking at the
Footnotes, I think this very IT-like initiative from ASA deserves a
special mention here:

"ASA is calling on its members to support the Association's mission to
deploy the power of Wikipedia to represent the discipline of sociology
as fully and as accurately as possible. In addition, we seek to promote
the free teaching of sociology worldwide. Read more
http://www.asanet.org/about/wiki_Initiative.cfm."

In anticipation of this, I've recently redesigned the WikiProject
Sociology at Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Sociology aiming to
make it more user friendly.
The old WikiProject site was less so, I think:
http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:WikiProject_Sociology&oldid=454354679
If anybody would like to make any suggestions on how to make the
WikiProject page more friendly, let me know. As this is a wiki, please
note that you can easily fix any typos and such yourself :) If you would
like to email me back with any suggestions, consider posting them
publicly on WikiProject discussion page itself (this is how Wikipedia
works).

The best articles, article news and alerts and the new article feed
tools can be of particular interest, as they all provide relative up to
date, dynamic data on various aspects of sociology on Wikipedia.

On the trivia side, the most popular sociology articles on Wikipedia may
raise some eyebrows:

If one would like to help improve sociology content on Wikipedia, and/or
teach with it, join the ASA initiative AND the WikiProject (the latter
is done by signing the participant list on the WikiProject page).

If anybody has any questions about the Wikipedia side of the project,
please let me know, and I'll be happy to provide any assistance.
