Idlewild 03/22/06: Enraptured by the Kimberley

GK
Georgs Kolesnikovs
Wed, Mar 22, 2006 11:07 AM

Date/time:                  Mar 22, 2006 12:00 local
Position at noon:        15001' S & 125011' E
Crew                          Ben, Brad, & Kevin
Goal:                          Explore Kimberley area of Western Australia

Remarks:

Left anchorage of favor at Purulba Creek at noon
yesterday.  Favorable tide going up to 1 mile
north of Whirlpool Point where we had anchored on
the way in.  Good anchorage after dark but had our
track and waypoints from before.

Lift anchor today at 07:15 and head for Hunter River 50 miles through
Islands.

Met a heavy rain storm with gale force winds (35
kts.) going into Prince Fredrick Harbour but no
problem.  Towing 'Sidekick' and she bounced out
of the water a few times.

Exceptional scenery through the Islands with
cliffs and beaches and lovely hills and nice
clean water.  A good place to relax and read and
eat too much.

Ben, Brad & Kevin
