Lakewood Winter 2018 Rotating Artist: Gail Janes Join us for her Reception: January 22 5-7pm 6000 Main Street SW, Lakewood, 98498 [IMG_3400] Gail grew up in Spokane and received her B.A. in Art Education at Whitworth University. She taught art in both primary and high school levels in the Tacoma School District for nine years. Gail also has given private art lessons and has taught a special gifted program at McCarver Primary School. Gail was hired as Curator of Education at the Tacoma Art Museum in 1976 where she gave educational tours, trained docents and installed exhibitions in the "Children's Gallery". She remained employed at the Art Museum for twelve years. Gail was then employed by the Metro Park District where she taught drawing and painting classes for both adults and children. Gail has had invitational exhibitions at Annie Wright School, Gallery VI, Village Art Gallery, Handforth Gallery White Dove Gallery in Tacoma and Sidney Gallery in Port Orchard. Gail has also exhibited in galleries in Olympia, Cannon Beach, Oregon, the Frye Museum in Seattle., Bainbridge Island, Federal Way and Renton. She has received numerous awards in juried shows throughout the Northwest. Gail is an active member of the Pacific Gallery Artists organization and supporter of the arts in the community.
