GPS message jitter (was GPS for Nixie Clock)
Tue, Jul 19, 2016 9:29 PM
. ----------------------- > So for a GPS or a timing unit on a NMEA-0183 bus, do they report their best estimate of time to the nearest 10ms when the packet is sent? (since a PPS line isn't shared)

After all, the reason you need *four* satellites is to estimate the local clock offset.

Coming up with some simple to use tools to estimate the errors and config them in is likely the only practical way to do it. Bob > On Feb 7, 2017, at 12:10 AM, Ruslan Nabioullin wrote: > > On 02/06/2017 09:06 PM, Bob Camp wrote: >>> On Feb 6, 2017, at 7:38 PM, Ruslan Nabioullin

Gr. White-fronted Geese
Fri, Nov 16, 2012 7:08 PM
From Frank Mantlik 11/16 East Windsor, Broad Brook Pond- 5 Greater White-fronted Geese, female Black Scoter, estimated 10,000 Canada Geese. When I arrived 9am, the last of 150 CAGO were taking off to the north. I returned 11:00-12:15, the Pond was filled with geese, and 4 other birders & I searched unsuccessfully for the previously-reported Barnacle Goose.

I estimated 80 Semipalmated Sandpipers (I could only find 2 Leasts among them; interesting how the numbers have shifted in the past couple weeks). There were also a few Lesser Yellowlegs and a couple Solitary Sandpipers as well. I'll have to stop by here more often, considering it's 2.5 minutes from work for me!

Nighthawks, Swifts, Corms -Aspetuck

In addition, there were 100 (estimate) CHIMNEY SWIFTS joining in the feeding frenzy. Plus quite remarkable was a roosting flock of 59 DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANTS (and 4 GREAT EGRETS) in the pines along the east shoreline. Another night I'll take my scope to be sure they are all D-Cs! An Estimated 30 Red-Breasted Nuthatches and 4 Brown creepers among the regulars. The come crop around Benedict Pond looks worked over but other areas along the road near Benedict & Doolittle host fresh-looking cones. With Greg Hanisek, Tina Green, Sara Zagorski and Jory Testler. - Fran

Re: [CT Birds] Robins

I saw the largest flock of robins in my life at Ethel Walker School in Simsbury on Thursday, 9-12 -- at least 1,000 on the grass, maybe more - very hard to estimate! 4000+ Warblers Bluff Point

An estimated 200 Chipping Sparrows was also notable. Ruby-crowned Kinglets put on a good show today as well but only a handfull of Juncos flew out. We should see more Juncos by now. Additionally, not a single Purple Finch or Red-breasted Nuthatch has gone through this fall, confirming the prediction of a poor winter finch year for us here in CT.
