There are still some very high estimates of what fuel/oil prices will be in the future and if this is the case, then the "Culotta Method" might be in order. >From what I have read, the Canadian section seems to get the most raves. R.

FW: Need your help spreading the word about the 2010 Census
Tue, Mar 9, 2010 12:11 AM
At stake is an estimated $14,400 per person that will come back to our community to help fund many of our programs and services. I know each of you will fill out your questionnaire and return it by April 1, but I ask that you go one step further and reach out to those you come in contact with and let them know how important the Census is.

If the Board of Regents and Wilson approve of the agreement and other details of the partnership, the university optimistically estimates it could have an operational medical school on campus by 2023.

Too Many Birds & Thanks.

I then stopped briefly at Allen's Meadows on the way home and quickly found 4 VESPER SPARROWS, 1 LINCOLN'S SPARROW and I would estimate 20 WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW and 3 EASTERN MEADOWLARKS. Again Allen's was just thick with Savannah and Song Sparrows today and the huge numbers of rumps at Sherwood were mirrored by big numbers of Palms at Allen's (50+).

A conservative estimate would be 3000 birds! About 50% Red-wings 40% Common Grackles and the remainder being Brown-headed cowbirds. There were other birders there and we were all scanning with scopes & bins but didn't locate the Yellow-headed Blackbird, still an impressive display.

Redpiolls and weather

According to an article in The Auk, Vol XXIV No. 4 Oct. 1907, a grid system estimate placed the number dead on the ice surface of just 2 lakes at 750,000! There are also accounts in the Wilson Bulletin of large weather-related longspur die-offs in Nebraska on two dates in February 1922, although no numbers are give. Greg Hanisek

I estimate there are at least 60 Mallards on the lake now, although they are split up into smaller groups in several areas. I spotted one female Hooded Merganser and at least 10 Common Mergansers (actively diving and hard to keep track of). In addition, there are now at least 40-45 Ring-necked Ducks.
