A passing lobster boat (the "Raging Bull" from Scarborough,Maine) pushed the birds into the air for a moment and I was able to get a rough count and estimated that there were at least 2000 Greater Scaup in that raft. They were still coming in to the raft in small groups when I left at about 11:30 AM.

BLACK SKIMMERS, estimated 1100 Tree Swallows (foraging over old landfill). Cove Place, Sound-watch, 8:30-9:50 - Not too much migrating, but did have 1 Great Cormorant (my first of season), 1 Common Loon, 15 Brant, 2 Surf Scoters, Peregrine Falcon, Cooper's Hawk, and a late Common Tern.

Looking close at the blackbirds: estimated 18 Grackles, 12 Starlings, 24 Red Wing Blackbirds and 6 Cowbirds. And of course the usual species including a new Carolina Wren that just started showing up. Keith MUeller Killingworth

Several birders spent from 12:30 till 3:30 at the landfill on Friday (12/9) with no luck picking out the the Thayer's The number of gulls was around 1,000 or maybe 1,500, but not the 2,000 estimated by Greg Hanisek in the morning.

ducks and Swallows...

I estimate their were well over 1,000 plus! I more than likely saw a Barn Swallow, but not 100% sure at that distance, but showed a forked tail. ..........also... 3 Ring-n-duck 40 C Merganser 5 Black Duck and best of day - 3 Redhead - 1 female. no grebes or Loons.

or make a temp route-set as a copy of the original one and just remove the transport=tcp parameter making this dialog use the same route-set but UDP instead of the default TCP if the estimation of the packet size is <1300. I tested just to remove the: f (!

It's almost impossible to give an accurate count but I > estimate somewhere between 2,000 & 3,000.

Shorebirds etc at Port Perry Sewage Lagoons this morning
