3 State St Hamden Eagle Chicks Ready to Fly
Sun, Jun 23, 2019 12:52 AM
I continue to estimate around the 1st to the 4th of July for the fledging date. I was there tonight (Sat 6/22/19) for about 2 hours ending around 8:15 PM. When I arrived, 2 chicks were on the big North nest branch, the third was on the rim of the nest on the South side. All were flapping at one time or another - note: always one at a time.

4th Circuit - Enjoins Final Rule on Abortion related services
Thu, Sep 3, 2020 6:36 PM
First, the Final Rule was promulgated in an arbitrary and capricious manner because it failed to recognize and address the ethical concerns of literally every major medical organization in the country, and it arbitrarily estimated the cost of the physical separation of abortion services.

We had the MOST fantastic swallow cruise with CT Audubon on Sunday evening - rising full moon, estimated 700,000 swallows, clear murmurations. I'd attach photos if I could - but look at my FB page. I'll post to Connecticut birds too.

Use of dual frequency GPS for NTP server and other purposes
Tue, Oct 4, 2022 10:31 PM
With the lowering cost of dual frequency L1/L2 GPS receivers and antennas, I was thinking it would be nice to have a (likely separate) dual frequency receiver to allow estimation of the precipitable water vapor above the observatory.

Re: FE-5680A Useful Life
Fri, Aug 16, 2024 5:59 PM
Hi Typical estimates on “average useful life” are > 10 years. There are a bunch of footnotes about temperature / other stuff associated with that. Run it hot and it may not last more than a couple years. How long did these sit in a cell tower? How hot did that site get?

New Boat Owner - Registering in RI
Tue, Mar 3, 2009 8:36 AM
I contacted a second Marine Maintenance contractor for an estimate which came in at less than $2000, and he reported back that half of the items reported by both Capt. Paul and Jim McAlee did not need to be done, such as replacing Risers.
