Re: [CT Birds] Feral cats
Thu, Dec 1, 2011 12:12 AM
Feral cats are second only to collisions with windows in the toll they take annually on bird populations with feral cats being responsible for an estimated 500 MILLION bird deaths here in the US every single year.

[Ontbirds] Short Eared Owls Near Grimsby
Sun, Apr 11, 2004 11:22 PM
Given that the dozen or so Owls we did find were essentially all within one very small area, and that the area is vast, it would not be a stretch to believe that the owners estimation of 90 birds present to be an exaggeration. DIRECTIONS: Take the QEW to Fifty Road and then right or west to Ridge Road.

[Ontbirds]Niagara River - No Cave Swallows
Tue, Nov 11, 2008 10:15 PM
I estimated 5-10,000 around the falls, another 5000 around the power plants, and 5000 more further downriver in Lewiston-Queenston. The only thing we could find with them were LITTLE GULLS. We had three adults above the falls and three adults plus one second-basic from the boat ramp in Queenston (looking downriver).

[Ontbirds] OFO Field Trip: Ottawa East April 24
Mon, Apr 25, 2016 1:17 AM
Nearby fields along Smith Road allowed distant and fleeting views of a pair of Sandhill Crane, a local breeder; better still was a large flock of Snow Geese along Frank Kenny Road, estimated at 1,500. As most of the geese were white phase, and due to the presence of some smaller birds, we assumed this flock to be mostly Greater.
