Re: [time-nuts] GPSDO uncertainties

One of the issues is that you need a *lot* of data to even begin to estimate the confidence levels and they are very dependent on data set size. A typical spec tends to have weird stuff like “99.9% based on 4 out of 5 runs of 100 hours”. Statements like that tend to make a statistics guy groan ….(or throw something at you).

C1 at fundamental mode is given by the equation C1(fF) = 0.15*Ael^2*f, with Ael = electrode are in mm^2 and frequency f in MHz With that and with the above estimated values for Q, the resistance can be calculated fundamentally from R1 =1/(2*PI*freq*C1*Q) - here is freq in Hz and C1 in F Have fun Best regards Bernd __________________ I wonder if anyone

subID=S14579784); highlights (as usual the numbers are mostly ballpark, conservative estimates): > > 4 Common Loons > 5 Cory's Shearwaters > 300 Great Shearwaters (substantial increase from 2 weeks ago) > 1500 Sooty Shearwaters (could have been twice this number) > 3 Manx Shearwaters (surprisingly few) > 1200 Wilson's Storm-Petrels (none 2 weeks ago!)

Is this the right way to compare the short term accuracy of two frequency counters?
Mon, Jan 24, 2022 1:43 PM
The manual of the Agilent 53132A specifies the worst case RMS error of a frequency measurement for different gate times and an input frequency of 10MHz as: Agilent 53132A Gate time : Max RMS error (estimated) 1 s : 2e-10 0.1 s : 2e-9 0.02 s : 5e-8 Assuming the RMS error and the STDDEV are the same the steps with gate time change of the Agilent

You can get a back-of-the-envelope estimate by taking the total amount of $ given to adult ed and dividing it by the number of people served as reported via the National Reporting System for WIOA Title II.

A conservative estimate would be 300. But it could have been upwards of 500. It would be interesting at some point to set up a viewing with binoculars a/o scopes one day to try and get a better viewing of exactly where they’re coming from and also if the flock is just one (American Crow?) species.
