4000+ Warblers Bluff Point
Mon, Oct 5, 2009 5:48 PM
Conservative estimate of 4,000+ were mostly Yellow-rumped Warblers but a total of 15 species were noted. Many birds were flying quite high and the passage was quite heavy so many birds got passed us without even being looked at, not unusual for the morning flight a t Bluff.

There's something special about seeing this many birds in one view and although I'm not sure how to even accurately estimate the number of birds seen, but I believe it is around 500,000 from what I've heard.

More-Gull Barnacle Info

When looking at buoy data there is a reading of Chlorophyl -A and that gives an estimate of the amount of Phytoplankton It generally goes up in the spring with the increase in sunlight. and the increase in nutrients from the bottom. The use of the word Bloom implies a refrence to Phytoplankton. This may have an effect on the Barnacle Larvae.

Re: [CT Birds] Banded Sanderling and how you could help

If we were to have a 10% tax on birdseed, for instance, in CT, based on the estimates of what is sold, that could mean $6 million a year. I know, for instance, that one of the local stores in Mansfield sells 1000 bags of birdseed a month. Even if there were a $1 surcharge on those bags, that is $12,000 from just one store.

It can be scheduled in advance with date time and estimated guest count. Susie suggested prizes and trophies for the Specialty show in December which were all approved by those present.

Halloween Safety Are you ready for the estimated 200 trick-or-treaters in Vuecrest? Here are some reminders to keep it safe and seamless.
