Probably passing over Eagleville lake by now._______________________________________________This list is provided by the Connecticut Ornithological Association (COA) for the discussion of birds and birding in Connecticut.For subscription information visit http://lists.ctbirding.org/mailman/listinfo/ctbirds_lists.ctbirding.org

Re: MHM-A1 maser temperature stabilization

This can be very messy, but could be estimated experimentally on an actual thing, including the conduction, radiation, and convection effects. If there's a draft in the room, then it's a different deal. Deleting the foam, say, takes out its 0.04 deg C/W of resistance, but doesn't short it to ambient temperature.

Re: [time-nuts] AVAR <-> S_Y conversion

As first step I estimate h_alpha from the Allan Deviation plot (I'm aware that I need to take care for the Allan Deviation <-> Allan Variance conversion). Then I try to estimate the expected PSD values and compare them with my actual plot using the formulas from IEEE 1139.

Re: GL: summer storage on the hard in lower Georgia/Savanah area

The estimates I was given for a variety of (extensive) jobs were very close to the final cost (they were "estimates," not "quotes"). I was never charged a dime for dockage or use of the facilities (showers, restrooms) while there for some 5 months. By the way, they do have limited transient space, and at a very good rate. No fuel or pumpout.

Solar chargers
Tue, Dec 7, 2010 6:05 PM
You can estimate a drop in charge at about 2% per month, give or take a percent or two. By the end of a long winter you still should have three quarters of the charge left. But if you want to have full charged batteries when you take the covers off, estimate how much replacement charge you need and get a solar maintenance charger to supply that amount.
