I was curious if TCM was still around as Bill Fleenor wrote:

Incidentally, there is a larger trawler cat nearing completion at
Pacific Expedition Yachts where Double-Wide will be launched soon.
John Shaw is also building a 65-foot expedition catamaran.
Particulars are available at:
http://www.pacificexpedition.com/index.html
John, who is an experienced builder, tells me he believes there is a
market for go-anywhere power cats that deliver comfort and
convenience on a wide, stable platform.

For a ballpark minimum, try $10 to $15 per pound of displacement.

There is a substantial difference between 10 and 15 multiplied by
48,000.

Dear Gram Rupert,
You do have a valid point concerning the price variation based on Georgs
estimate, especially as the 48,000lb is light ship and there is a deadweight
of at least 3 to 5,000lb still to come for full load displacement. Were you
using light ship or full load displacement for your 10 to 15$ per lb
guesstimate Georgs? I know that that sort of estimate is one of those "how
long is a piece of string" questions. But I would be interested to know , is
it a reasonably accurate estimate of costs in the USA?

Malcolm Tennant. ARINA MA

There's also a substantial deference between the cost of a Jabsoc electric
head @ $500 builder cost and
a top of the line head hunter jet toilet @ $1600 builder cost. Now let's
figure that spread on the 1000's of bits and pieces that have to be selected
for a typ. 48,000 lb displacement boat.
To Malcolm's question: I'd be willing to guess it's closer to $20/lb US for a
fully found custom boat.
