Golden-crowned Kinglets at White Memorial
Mon, Apr 9, 2018 3:09 PM
Mid-morning on 4/8/18, we had several Golden-crowned Kinglets (estimate about 6 -- didn't see all of them at one time) at White Memorial Conservation Center in trees along the swamp forest edge that is south of the Little Pond Boardwalk Trail (actually a gated forest road).  Trail is on Whites Wood Rd.

New London ferry this morning, big Eider numbers
Sat, Dec 15, 2018 6:35 PM
No remarkable birds in CT waters but a careful estimate of 1,600 Common Eider is by far the most I have ever seen in CT. Many adult males.

Chimney Swifts New Haven
Tue, May 7, 2019 1:56 AM
Today we observed an estimated 3000 swifts coming in to roost from the roof of the parking garage at 150 York.  It was quite the spectacle to see!  After circling above our heads for a while, they started darting into the chimney around 7.50 pm.

Re: search function is broken

A list comprehension with an inline condition is ~10x faster, estimated, than find with a needle function would be. OTOH, a find with a constant needle might be as much as 10x faster than a list comprehension.

Re: How to access the external 1PPS clock, from GPSDO, to be used inside a custom RFNOC block?
Fri, Jun 13, 2025 1:25 PM
.\ \ As mentioned in my code example you can set the time_source to gpsdo instead of external I am not sure if you can get access to the actual internal PPS rising edge coming from GPSDO, but what you might be able to do is add the timestamp clock as an input to your custom block and then using the tickrate estimate the 1 second intervals starting from the point

Re: T&T: Fuel consumption and speed

The actual hull was loaded far heavier than the load estimated for the model, and the actual propeller efficiency apparently was lower than that estimated for the model. And of course the Pacific ocean weather was worse than that experienced in the towing tank.

If, after receiving the estimate, you do not wish to have the binoculars repaired, please inform the Factory Service Center of your decision as soon as possible. If you decline the estimate, the binoculars will be shipped back to you unrepaired.
