Swallow movement?
Wed, Jul 28, 2010 8:52 PM
I would estimate that I saw at least 100, probably more. Do swallows start to move this time of year? Don Morgan, Coventry http://birdingnect.blogspot.com/ "Think, every morning when the sun peeps through The dim, leaf-latticed windows of the grove, How jubilant the happy birds renew Their old, melodious madrigals of love!" Question?
Mon, Feb 7, 2011 8:44 PM
I would estimate 200+ Grackles, Red Wing Blackbirds and Cowbirds. These birds seem to be steadily building in numbers over the last few days. I have at least 24 Cowbirds both male and female, and possibly 100 red wing blackbirds which now include many females which are the first I have seen also.

Migration on Radar
Fri, May 20, 2011 9:08 AM
My best estimate is that everywhere the weather allowed, starting the minute it was possible, large numbers of birds have been moving. The greatest concentration is in the NW corner of CT, but the entire eastern half of the state has been heavy and even the NE corner showed activity from the radar station in eastern MA. We've all been waiting for this!

I would estimate that at least 2000-2500 came in while we watched to jo in theĀ  hundreds already there. Also on Vibert Rd. we watched a great blue heron catch a nice, fat frog in Newberry Brook next to Vibert Rd. Carl & Catherine Ekroth

[Ontbirds]King Eiders-Stony Creek

We did not do a count but I would estimate there were 30+ birds in that area in three different groups. At Windemere Basin we also saw Ruddy Duck, Am. Coot, N. Shoveler, Ring-Neck Duck, and off Eastport Drive, a Horned Grebe. Millen Road is between the Centennial Road and Fruitland Road exits of the QEW. Bill Broderick Youngstown, NY

[Ontbirds]migrants observed in Bradford Ontario
Sat, Oct 7, 2006 8:22 PM
I estimated there were 200 or more in small groups of 20 - 30 birds. As well, there were a number of Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers and Eastern Phoebes moving through as well. To visit this location, take Hwy. 11 south through Bradford ( towards Newmarket) and turn left onto Disette Avenue at the lights. Drive along to the first public road on the right.

[Ontbirds]Reesor Pond Update
Sat, Nov 17, 2007 2:03 PM
An estimated 6000 Canada Geese plus a family of four or five Cackling Geese make up the larger crowd with spectacular comings and goings throughout the day as they visit the surrounding cornfields. A Great Blue Heron is seen daily while Tree sparrows, Common Redpolls and American Pipits remain, but are few in numbers.
