The wave length involved can't be much more than 30-50 miles at these water depths, I would estimate. I don't think this proves the case, but the possibility is intriguing. Regards, Mike _____________________________________ Capt. Mike Maurice Beaverton Oregon(Near Portland)

One thing I did was to hire a qualified marine electrician to go through the boat as thoroughly as possible and write up a comprehensive list of the damages and an estimate to do the work. My insurance company insisted on sending a surveyor, at their expense, to investigate. I paid my electrician to be at that meeting and it went smoothly.

The buyer proceeded to use these as a tool to negotiate a major price reduction - a reduction of about four times the estimated cost of a blister repair job. My friend would have nothing to do with it and the deal fell through. My friend hauled the boat, peeled the gel coat, dried the laminate and did a blister repair over the next several months.

Then when they get estimates for replacement, you should hear the whinning. Even then, what do they do? They go back to cleaning and sanding! Some folks just have to have a "particular look", no matter the damage done to get it. But keep on preaching, maybe someone will benefit from your council. Maybe even some can be "saved".

I will let you know when i get to 50,000 hours ( I estimate I will be 107 by then), just how that works out. I plan to replace the turbo then too, and maybe grind the valves. He says best I not fool with synthetics, as it might be tough on the seals. As he is in line to inherit the boat I think he has her best interests in mind..
