Sad news for insectivores
Thu, Aug 23, 2012 3:06 PM
I estimated over 20 plus years, over 12 broods at 4 birds each average, died because of the use of common accepted household poisons. When you target a species for killing through spraying, many other species get killed as well, plus the balance of that ecosystem will be disrupted as well - some for many years to come... I THINK THIS GUY NEEDS A GOOD MOLT!

Someone on the local list estimated 250,000 of them in the area, and I think that # is probably very low. And many thousands Indigo buntings, Blue Grosbeaks, Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, more Dicksissels than I knew existed, hundreds of Painted Buntings and Scarlet Tanagers, Thousands of Summer Tanagers and on and on.

Am Robins
Fri, Dec 27, 2013 9:33 PM
Just had an estimated 450 Am. Robins flying over in loose flocks, heading SSW, between 4:10 and 4:20. Rob Mirer Moodus Today went out to do some birding. I encountered a spot where birds were everywhere, esp Robins in great numbers. Were they moving through? I felt they were because they were not here yesterday.

Rusty Blackbirds - East Hartford

I estimate about 120 birds total. They must have been up against the building, which I couldn't see from the second floor. I suspect this is a flock that hangs out along the Hockanum River, not far away on the other side of I-84. Andrew Dasinger, South Glastonbury

Stratford Raptors, Yellowlegs, Yellow-crowneds, Laughers
Thu, Nov 9, 2017 12:53 AM
Stratford Point: a conservative estimate of 470 Laughing Gulls involved in a feeding frenzy (probable fish prey) in the Sound south of the lighthouse. Too far to discern any rarer species mixed in, but still an unusually large number for this late date. Short Beach Park: 55 Black-bellied Plovers, 28 Dunlin roosting on beach during very high tide.
