Price reduction on 40' steel trawler
Thu, Jul 7, 2005 1:23 PM
The Phil Bolger designed trawler Bossanova (ex-Shady Lady), whose replacement value is estimated at $660,000, is now for sale at $135,000. A salty, one-of-a-kind vessel that's navigated the Bahamas and East Coast multiple times, she is in fantastic condition.

List downtime on weekend
Fri, Feb 6, 1998 1:42 PM
I'm estimating it'll take the better part of a day even if I just go with the straight swap of parts, but all e-mail will be spooled and processed once the machine's back up again.

Trawler Fuel Economy
Wed, Oct 21, 1998 1:58 PM
Last major trip 5500 nautical miles with a total fuel consumption as close as I can estimate of 2004 US gal., this includes about 5 months at anchor in the Bahamas with about 1 3 /4 hours of generator time a day. Also generator time when anchored on travels and lots of idle time when doing locks etc. (about 107 locks this trip).

It's not that things cost more than you estimated, it's that you forgot to list half the things you need. ===== Mark Richter, M.E., aboard M/V Winnie the Pooh, custom Morgan 46 Pilothouse Efficiency Trawler. "Mark's Mobile Marine" electrical systems repair & consulting.

TWL: Re: trim tabs
Fri, May 11, 2001 2:40 PM
Although I haven't measured it I estimate that the trim is changed by 1/2 to one degree in the bow down direction with the tabs fully deflected. Visibility from the lower helm is enhanced. In following sea conditions the boat does tend to yaw more with the tabs deflected and I retract them in those conditions.

Damage was estimated at $10 million This highlights the importance of frequently checking your electrical panel and shore cord connections. Whether live-aboard or occasional user, a loose connection will over-heat even when much less than maximum current is drawn.

Re: TWL: battery chargers need for AC

In other words at 120V you have 3 amps so at 12V you would have 30 amps for the same power ( wattage) Now I realize that there are losses and inaccuracies in this but it serves as a quick guide to estimate with.

TWL: Re: Lehman 120 Simms Injectors
Sat, Feb 22, 2003 4:01 AM
>Does anyone have a ballpark estimate on the cost of having > the Simms pump serviced? I sent my injection pump to American Diesel for repairs. Didn't know what was wrong with it, but Mr. Smith listened to it run and said it had a problem. Turned out one plunger wouldn't time properly, so I was running on five cylinders.
