I would estimate that about 20 seconds is good enough for making a decision about just how fast one has to run for a train. Buying tickets for events like Wimbledon tennis in the UK can demand one attempts at the right time, as tickets become available and sold out very quickly.

Collins uses a trapezoid approximation throughout and thus over-estimates the noise contribution of low-gain stages, which are the first stages thus contribute to a relatively large error in the calculation.

You can estimate the new tuning sensitivity from your experiments, and see how it shapes up compared to the likely original characteristic. Restoring it to "original" would then involve proper gain and offset adjustments to land close enough.

I'm going to make estimates by doing some math later but you couldn't go 2 sec without a Swainson's Thrush, and double-digit Gray-cheek including one higher pitched bird that may have been Bicknell's. We'll see if my iPhone spectrogram image will be enough to distinguish.

Hard to estimate these numbers. With the Gulls feeding on top of the water were Brandt, Black Ducks, Common Goldeneye etc. Also, one adult Northern Gannet resting on the water at the first jetty left of the entry toll booth. Two American Oystercatchers continue at Milford Point.

Someone on the local list estimated 250,000 of them in the area, and I think that # is probably very low. And many thousands Indigo buntings, Blue Grosbeaks, Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, more Dicksissels than I knew existed, hundreds of Painted Buntings and Scarlet Tanagers, Thousands of Summer Tanagers and on and on.
