[Ontbirds] Blue-winged Warbler among 24 species of warblers at Colonel Samuel Smith Park, Etobicoke
Sun, May 13, 2012 11:17 PM
I estimate that only 25% of warblers seen were identified due to cloudy conditions and flat light during first two hours searching. The largest species diversity by far was in the big bowl and I had 18 species there after the first hour.

Wed, Oct 23, 2013 11:50 PM
The distance was estimated to be about 110 meters horizontally at the closest point and 100 meters vertically. It was a basic plumaged adult Pacific Loon, based on the sharpness of the necklace, the immaculate white face and breast and dark back and crown.

[Ontbirds] Presqu'ile shorebirds
Sun, Sep 6, 2015 1:50 PM
There was a bird that in my estimation was a Semipalmated Sandpiper that was being identified as the Western by some, but the Western that has been present the past few days is a very long billed individual and is delightfully obvious.

[Ontbirds] IMPORTANT UPDATE for Hamilton OFO Trip tomorrow
Fri, Oct 2, 2015 2:31 PM
However, the current estimate is of 50 KM HOUR E AND NORTH EAST WINDS with 80 KM GUSTS!!!....this makes a lake watch completely out of the question. I scouted the lake today and it is absolutely unbearable, and I am used to being at the lake during awful conditions. I also scouted several other locations and they are very difficult to bird.

[Ontbirds] American Robins (Numerous), Queensville, ON (Fields West of Leslie St. South of Milne Lane)
Mon, Jan 11, 2016 10:35 PM
Unsure whether to report this, but today in the early afternoon there were numerous (50-75 estimate) American Robins in the fields west of Leslie St. in Queensville. Typically in winter in Queensville we might see a few robins around, but I have never seen this many in January!

[Ontbirds] 40+ Fish Crows - Niagara Falls
Sat, Jul 22, 2017 2:13 AM
The majority of the birds that I heard vocalize were Fish Crows, and I have conservatively estimated 40+ Fish Crows in this one flock, though the numbers could certainly be higher. I took a video of part of the flock and have posted it on my blog.

Not sure about fuel consumption - I would estimate fuel burn of 12 gph at 18 knots. The boat is in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition. Recent survey available. In the water in Jamestown, RI. Price $150,000. John Schieffelin Jamestown, RI jsschieff@cox.net

I don't suppose you could also give me an estimate as to how many degrees the bow pitches up when you approach your maximum speed, can you? >It took Krogen to come along and show the >world how recreational trawlers should be designed. I believe that perhaps this is true. He certainly did an excellent job.
