Re: [Ontbirds] OFO Field Trip: Ottawa East April 24
Mon, Apr 25, 2016 10:29 PM
Nearby fields along Smith Road allowed distant and fleeting views of a pair of Sandhill Crane, a local breeder; better still was a large flock of Snow Geese along Frank Kenny Road, estimated at 1,500. As most of the geese were white phase, and due to the presence of some smaller birds, we assumed this flock to be mostly Greater.

Non-raptor Observations: American Crows were also on the move, with approximately 5000 birds counted - certainly a conservative estimate. Between the Crows and the Turkey Vultures, the sky was full with lots of big, dark birds! Predictions: Tomorrow's weather conditions will be similar, with NW winds and cool temperatures.
