[Ontbirds] Cerulean, golden-winged & blue-winged warblers, snow goose, etc - Opinicon Road area, Eastern Ontario
Sat, May 14, 2011 2:07 PM
Finally, recent counts of eastern whip-poor-wills along Opinicon Road, Massassauga Road and the Cataraqui Trail have provided estimates of about 50 singing males within earshot of the roads/trail - not too bad for a threatened species.

[Ontbirds] HSR: DRHW- Lake Erie Metropark (03 Nov 2011) 483 Raptors
Thu, Nov 3, 2011 10:11 PM
A conservative estimate would have to start with more than half a million during just that 45-minute span. Really, an incredible sight. And that wasn't the end of the migration, either. The afternoon featured several more large flocks of crows moving through, adding at least another 50,000 to the day's total.

[Ontbirds] Presqu'ile Birding Report for Week Ending January 5, 2012.
Thu, Jan 5, 2012 8:32 PM
An estimated 500 REDHEADS appear in Presqu'ile Bay whenever the ice permits it, which depends on the wind direction. It is worth scanning the flocks for an early RING-NECKED DUCK. WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS are at Presqu'ile in small numbers.

[Ontbirds] Presqu'ile Birding Report for Week Ending May 15, 2014.

One estimate indicates that there are about 50 GREAT EGRET nests on High Bluff Island, some of which can be observed with a scope from the mainland. There are also BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON nests there, but they are more difficult to see. On one pass by Sebastopol Island, where they used to nest, three birds were spotted perched in the only tree.

COMMON REDPOLLS are being seen daily, the largest group, variously estimated at 80-110 birds, frequenting Gull Island. To reach Presqu'ile Provincial Park, follow the signs from Brighton. Locations within the Park are shown on a map at the back of a tabloid that is available at the Park gate.

Her replacement value as a fine wooden yacht is estimated at $900,000. plus. A Nimphius built boat is equal to Bunker and Ellis, Hogdon Yachts and Paul Luke in the quality of construction and selection of the finest materials. She is "Top Shelf" as they say. Traveler is one of a kind.

Don't under estimate the importance here! Now the engine itself can and does have a roughness. There are three smooth and rough speeds between 500 and 1000 rpm. It sounds stupid, but the thing to do is to find the smoothest speed on your engines and run them there.

Draft cat-dink design
Mon, Mar 15, 1999 6:52 AM
Fuel economy should be better than equivalent RIB when planing, but for estimating we'll just assume a 12-ft RIB or good hard dink, 25HP. Our thinking on fuel capacity was to build in under the soles tanks enough for the worst case, so we never have to fill up interior space with jerry jugs.
