Lengths aren't fixed, but give a realistic estimate, and please don't exceed 30 minutes unless you have something special planned (in that case, contact one of us). We will typically go for 30-minute slots -- shorter talks, unless they're really short, usually tend to screw up the schedule too much. You aren't limited to slide presentations, of course.

Wed, Feb 4, 2009 8:17 PM
Tips for bartering: - Assess the value of your services in estimated hours - or an hourly rate - to determine the value in trade. Factor in buffer time for the unknown's. - Provide images of the item, amenity or "end-results" of your service with your posting. This should increase the interest in your post significantly.

Bernhardt suggests using an online net price calculator to get a rough estimate. Pick three or four schools in your area, some private and some public. Most should have an online calculator tailored to their own institution. The College Board has a more general calculator online.

I am, by anyone's estimation, an inexperienced birder. In the short time I have been actively birding I have been lucky enough to see quite a few "interesting" birds, a few I've found myself, most I have been alerted to by the members of this list, both personally and through the daily listings.

Roosevelt, answer to Warble riddle....
Mon, May 25, 2009 10:52 PM
I believe 100 is a conservative estimate. A nice sight (and photo op) occurred when I was resting near the parking lot. The large puddle that has been there for several years had Barn Swallows, Cedar Waxwings, a Chipping Sparrow, 2 Goldfinch, a Titmouse, and a Cardinal drinking/bathing/eating grit at the same time.
