Re: [CT Birds] Crow Roosts
Thu, Jan 30, 2020 11:40 PM
Two years ago, Nick Bonomo estimated the number at 5000. This year, during the first ever Norwich Christmas Bird Count, I found about 500 near Stop and Shop on Town Street. We did not locate the huge roost that is usually somewhere nearby. I do block work , 72 C, in Norwich and am looking for major roost. Will let you know if I find in.

The Common Tern numbers are a best estimate, but the less common terns were counted to some degree by us as a group and surely undercounted. Common Terns - 9000 Black Terns - 135 Roseate Terns - 350 Forster's Terns - 42 Laughing Gull - 2200 Bonaparte's Gull - 27 There were usually two, but always at least one large feeding flock near the point.

Re: Westport Hudsonian Godwits
Mon, Aug 8, 2022 2:18 PM
About 5 years ago (estimating) Patrick Dugan found one Hudsonian Godwit feeding by a puddle at Cove Island in the grass. It was easy to watch the bird and it hung around for a day or perhaps 2 if I recall. It hasn’t rained, but after a good rain the puddles seem to attract wading birds. Thanks for the heads up.

Re: Phase Noise Measurement {External}

example ADA4927 1.4nV/sqrt(Hz), 14 pA/sqrt(Hz) at G=28, 100kHz - estimating off the plot in the data sheet, the 1/f knee is around 10-20kHz There's also the ADA 4817A   4nV/sqrt(Hz) 2.5 fA/sqrt(Hz) - this one looks like it's 1/f is a bit lower.  It's also challenging in low gain applications.

Stratford-Milford CBC Results 12/23/2023
Thu, Dec 28, 2023 5:10 PM
Historically, count day totals would have to be estimated as flocks of these Calidrids were regularly found in the high-hundreds, on both sides of Housatonic. There are still CBCs to enjoy!
