Re: T&T: CPES Epoxy

I estimate that all the paint will have lifted and pealed off by year 3! Would I do it again? Never. So you might want to check the experience of others in using CPES to paint teak. Granted, the problem is the teak oil leaches out of the wood over time, and MAYBE, it the excessive heat and sunlight in central FL that accelerates the process.

More on diesel fuel consumption
Mon, Jan 1, 2007 2:56 PM
My best estimate from actual experience suggests this is a bit optimistic. I think I use closer to 10 gal/hr which equates to about 0.67 gal/hp/hr. (based on refilling fuel tanks against hours of use.) Rob Brueckner Hatteras YF

That is we took past spending by benefit plan, region, whatever and used it to forecast future spending and how much money we need to keep in accruals(for estimated future claims). This was not something that was optional, we had to keep a minimum number of moneys in accrual based off of approved formulas to keep our state licenses.

The officer told me that they estimate that 10% of the cruisers check in, and thanked me for being responsible. I was surprised to learn that so many don't bother. There are sources of qualified information available, I would search those out and summarily ignore the info that comes from any source other than those who wield the enforcement stick.

Buck/boost transformers

The sucker is heavy (I estimate 30-35 lbs.) but I think it's perfect for my needs. And at $500 it came in at close to the same price as the parts for building a new one. The good news is that there was another identical used one offered by the same seller at Sailorman.

Re: T&T: snubbers, now rode theory

If you want to estimate exactly how much a boat will move backward when the anchor rode is all chain, consider the following case. You are anchored on a calm day in 10' of water. The bow is 5' above the water. Being a traditionalist you use a 7:1 anchor rode, not forgetting to add in the height of the bow. So you have a total of 105' of chain.

Re: T&T: Seeking input on generators
Sun, May 13, 2012 1:58 AM
It didn't have an hour meter on it so I can't estimate the number of hours it ran. I never had to work on it; I only changed the oil and added gasoline. I sold the boat but kept the generator. I use it at my house for emergency power and for powering small tools in remote places. I won't use this generator on my diesel driven boat.

He estimated the cost of fumigating a 42' boat in the water at around $600. He noted that sealing the tent is easier in the water than on land. His response to my concern about choosing a storage site to minimize the risk of infestation was to pick the site on the basis of other considerations and deal with an infestation if it occurred.
