But, note that these statistical chances are estimated from mathematical equations and these equations just happened to have been a "good" fit to the data that was used in the study (s) that established all of these so called "rules". Some day, someone will produce an equation which better describes the data and that will become the new standard.

Florida East-West Coast Marina Question

Rough price estimates on any of these? I'll probably be moving in about 30 days, middle of April, but most likely will have to stay ground bound for at least a month or two, before a boat is acquired and moved. I am looking forward to meeting some of the listees in the area, and enjoying the sunsets.

If they can bring off the $100 price, Negroponte estimates sales of such a machine to be more than 50 million units the first year, the bulk going to school districts for elementary education and to lesser developed countries. When they are available to the general public, I'll buy one for sure. Larry Z

We estimated 9000 man hours to produce the sailboats in the factory environment in Taiwan and our effort on this boat exceeded that by 50% or more. Our 1000 sq ft shop was often crowded. A sizable number of quality table and hand tools are essential. Unless you are located near a boating center online shopping skills are essential.

We estimate that we'd break the 96,000 lb mark loaded right now. If we used the 66,000 lbs figure and got hauled with a 40 ton hoist, for example, who do you think would have the problem if the straps/lift broke and dropped the boat?? There are two lifts here in Puerto La Cruz rated at 50 and 55 tons respectively.

One should probably budget about twice the estimate because they will undoubtedly find complications during the installation.

I took a bunch of pictures and sent them to the folks who made the canvas, and asked them for a ball park estimate to reapir it. They said at least $1500, but where the canvas was eleven years old, they said it would be a "best effort", and may cost more once they see it up close. They offered to make me a new cover for $7800.

Looking at the photos you mention I estimate this point of convergence of individual beams to be less than 2 meters away. Even the ORCA Green nav lights display sectors within a 2 meter distance from the LED assembly.

Re: T&T: Anchor Size Recommendations

;-) By my estimate, a 55-pound Rocna--no matter how good it is--is about half the weight you need. And after you get a big, hunkin' anchor, a good, reliable power windlass for dealing with the ground tackle needs to be next on your list. Seriously. One guy's opinion. --Milt Baker, Nordhavn 47 Bluewater, Hampton, VA P.S.
