TWL: 2 Bolger trawler designs

Range is estimated at 2800 nm at top speed of 8 knots; cruise speed of 6.9 knots at 1 GPH provides a nominal range of 5382 nm. She is designed to be home buildable in reasonable time. Engine exhaust and air intake and boat ventilation are designed to keep her right on chugging after a 360 degree roll.

Cost: Based on usage, but they estimate $12.50 per year. Look at www.spamcop.net and click on the HELP link. You have to do a bit of digging to get a really good feel for this thing, but my experience after 24 hours is positive -- 100% of the spam was blocked (about a dozen messages), and all of the "real" mail came through correctly.

As I said the sailboat had been knocked down while under bare pole - the estimate of the wind is only that - it could have well been much greater than that .

Mostly I got "Take it off, send it to us and we will give you an estimate." I dont really like this, since once its there you are essentially comitted no matter the price. One guy however asked what kind it was. He then said something like I bet its leaking from the throttle connetion area right? Yup this was the case.

Please note that all of the quotes were informal, NOT written, guaranteed estimates! They also told me that these gears, when mounted behind low power, slow turning engines such as 120HP Lehmans (my case) and properly cared for, will last a VERY long time. They are strongly built and well engineered.

In actual fact the 125hr & 250hr intervals are just worst case estimates that the engine builder uses to help ensure that you're changing oil often enough. If you choose to enact an oil analysis program you will almost certainly find that you can extend your service intervals to or beyond the 250hr point even with HS fuel.

If you get a professional estimate to fix deficits and if the buyer says "OK, I will pay for all the work as listed" then you would need to go forward with the deal (subject to sea trials). But that is very unusual and you can stand your ground on those items you want fixed.

Our companies application uses small bursty type of traffic, so we estimate using the per mb plan will run about $40 per month. Much different from surfing the web or getting a lot of email. I would suggest trying the per MB pricing and see what your email bill will be.

Trying to estimate a custom job is not impossible but it certainly isn't easy. Every boat is different, because each owner adds unique things or adds the same thing but in a different place. Each layer of equipment in front simply makes access to the back that more difficult if not impossible. You can se it but can't reach it.
