I would estimate that the waves are on the order 25+ feet. The helmsman has the timing down so precisely that the boat simply slices one wave after another in almost exactly the same way. No words can adequately describe the results.

Battery temperature sensor concern
Sun, Jul 15, 2007 6:51 PM
I have not recorded engine room temperature when the generator is running, I estimate 90 - 95 degrees. Have others experienced similar issues when charging from the Prosine 3.0 and-or the TrueCharge 40? Any advice on this concern will be appreciated. Chet Defever 44+5, Cygnet Daytona Beach, FL

Cold molding your hull
Mon, Jul 23, 2007 3:21 PM
I had an estimate to do the work by a company and it was over $220K for just the cold molding and replacing the decks. I have about $35K into both the bottom cold mold tanks, and the decks with my free labor. I replaced the old teak decks with =" marine plywood and I am so glad that I did. When the old deck came up many of the supports had cracks in them.

Based on agency estimates, as many as 91,000 commercial vessels and about 13 million recreational boats could be affected. EPA is proposing a practical approach as we work with Congress on a longer-term, comprehensive solution, said Assistant Administrator for Water Benjamin H. Grumbles.

IT IS ALWAYS OK TO USE WIRING WITH LARGER AMPACITY RATINGS THAN THE ESTIMATED OVERLOAD MARGIN. THE LARGER, THE BETTER. In the real world, this is limited by cost, convenience, etc, but never by the physics of Ohm's Law. The purpose of fuses/breakers is to protect the WIRING ATTACHED TO THAT BREAKER, *not* (as most people believe) attached devices.

live aboard costs?

And even with my estimate above, I'm assuming you would base the boat out of one of the more remote harbors in the winter (lower cost) and not down near Seattle. On the east coast and Caribbean where you expressed an interest, I'm guessing you'd need closer to $120K to truly use the boat properly.

Re: T&T: tools to removing caulking from teak deck
Thu, Oct 8, 2009 5:30 AM
I estimate it took me about five minutes to remove the old sealant from each groove. It took far, far longer to clean out each groove and prepare it properly for new sealant. By the way, there is only one teak deck sealant worth using today and that is TDS (Teak Decking Systems) SIS440.

Coastguard/private boater collision SD
Mon, Dec 21, 2009 3:29 PM
The parade's Web site said an estimated 80,000 people were expected to attend the last of eight nights of the parade Sunday, which also featured a fireworks show. The 87-foot Coast Guard cutter Haddock had been scheduled to lead the parade, which was supposed to begin about the same time as the accident, but was called away to the collision scene.

You can negotiate a lower price on the boat based on a blister repair estimate, then decide if you actually want to do it and how.

Experience with Sirius weather
Sun, Jun 10, 2012 5:36 PM
What I got to see on the screen was an animated depiction of the front which I estimated was going to cause high winds across the exposed anchorage that night. The NOAA VHF weather information, being focused on local areas on the mainland did not convey the sense of a dangerous weather front advancing on us.
