Don't under estimate the importance > here! > > Now the engine itself can and does have a roughness. There are three > smooth and rough speeds between 500 and 1000 rpm. It sounds stupid, but > the thing to do is to find the smoothest speed on your engines and run > them there.

Boat Training Experience - Part One
Thu, Mar 5, 1998 7:02 PM
After lunch, it was more buoy and slip practice along with determining our Estimated Position by chart and hand bearing compass. (Gene said we could learn to use a GPS on our own - hand bearings will always work, if you know how.) Back to the slip where Sherri backed in (also with several approaches).

TWL: Indiscipline Cruise 2000 Update

Just then a tremendous blast of wind I would estimate at 75 mph hit the marina. Many of the sailboats were knocked down in their slips! All sailors not in the lounge came running up from their boats. I jumped into my foulies and went running to our boat.

TWL: Dispatches from the Electrical Front

(less than 5% is my estimate. ) So technically, a boat wired with Cobra cable is not fully complaint with ABYC but that doesn't mean the boat is substandard in the wiring department.

TWL: Re: Survey Tip

Our hull and engine surveyors did a very good job in my estimation, and I would never recommend replacing their function with a friend, no matter how knowledgeable he or she may be. But a boat, like a house, can be a pretty dramatic purchase in terms of the money and the amount of work that might have to be done.
