Re: GL: time to travel the Trent Severn
Mon, Apr 27, 2009 8:48 PM
We would always try to be within one hundred miles when estimating arrangements for guests and they knew they would have to get to us. We had guests aboard about 7 times while on the loop and it worked well. There are many reasons to delay or modify your schedule when doing the loop. Vance B.

A question of Frequency Offset
Fri, Jun 7, 2019 7:29 PM
Hi, I'm transmitting a signal and receiving it using USRPs and want to estimate the frequency offset, but I'm getting something confusing. I'm using 2.45GHz for the transmitting, and the sampling rate is 1MHz. The signal consists of 5 repeated preambles, and each of them has 100 data points (i.e. 100μs).

How to get to know when my buffer is sent?
Sat, Mar 7, 2020 11:01 PM
Use the system clock to estimate how much data is outstanding. I'm guessing that clock drift will be my enemy here, so it will get tricky. Neither of the options sounds like a good idea to me. Do you have any ideas how to cope with it? Thanks in advance. -- Marek Dopiera marek@dopiera.pl

Eagles in Branford area
Sun, Jun 10, 2007 2:32 PM
We logged and photographed a single adult and four juvenile birds (birds born that year by our estimations on plumage coloration - one bird when viewed via scope due to distance away showed a gold colored leg band). Just a couple days ago, I was out observing the Ospreys and a juvenile Eagle flew over the same area.

Swallow ballet
Thu, Sep 20, 2007 12:55 AM
The flock this evening was estimated at 200,000 individuals, approximately 1/2 wide by 1/4 mile deep. As described in a previous posting, the swallows fly in from the east, covering the sky, some dipping down to the water to drink and fly in large groups, blanketing the sky for awhile.

WCSP observations
Thu, Oct 18, 2007 2:39 AM
Derek Lovitch had estimated 175 WCSP on the island on 9/29. And I personally counted 60 in view at one time in Tom Martin's small yard (where he spreads birdseed on the lawn) on 10/2. Also large numbers of purple finches coming in for the seed as well. Frank mantlik Stratford, CT

Weekend Gulls
Fri, Mar 20, 2009 5:58 PM
If you are in any of the above areas I would appreciate you taking the time to look for these birds an make a not of their location and an estimate of abundance. Also important will be the amount of waves, and other species seen feeding with the gulls. People talk about citizen science, here is a chance to get involved.
