Re: TWL: Book Value???

I'm of the opinion that a more realistic estimation of the market for a particular type of boat can only be had by doing your own sampling, even if initially it's only a few months of published ads and online sites.

Re: TWL: Re: Hull Speed

If so, then both hulls are exceeding the 1.34 rule, I estimate about 1.55 or thereabouts. I don't see that the hull profile would lead to a boat that would be particularly rolly, but it would be more susceptible to chop, than a hull with more draft. The higher speed, if even only used in a pinch is very valuable in my opinion.

TWL: Fridge questions addendum
Tue, May 13, 2003 5:27 AM
And when I look at the Energy Guides on new refrigerators, they tend to estimate 300-500kWh/year of electricity consumption. If my math is right, that averages out to ~0.35-0.55 amps on average. Norcold claims their fridge consumes 0.7 amps at 110V.

I don't think anyone has estimated (on this list) how many years the paint will last or if it is ablative. How often does the owner of a 35 foot boat want to pay $3500? The implication was that this stuff must be applied professionally - just great.

TWL: RE: Flopperstopers - was High efficiency hulls

Well, Wesmar estimates about $23K for my boat and I simply can't believe that it would cost anywhere near that much for paravanes. Unfortunately, Kolstrand (fabricators of the fish) here in Seattle have absolutely no design guidance to offer. I've been taking pictures of F/S rigs that I run across and there is darned little commonality.

At that point you could develop a better estimate of repair part availability and cost.

A rough bottom is estimated to produce 5% more drag than a smooth one, enough to spell the difference between victory and defeat. As a result most competitors spend hours burnishing the bottom to remove any imperfection.

Re: Mildly Dirty Fuel

You didn't have an estimate of how many engine hours were run in that time period, but assuming "normal" use I would expect to find them dirty. If you think you have a dirty fuel problem, shock it with Soltron or other treatment, then have it polished. However, from your description, I wouldn't think it was a problem.
