[Ontbirds]Snowy Owl in North Bay
Fri, Nov 28, 2014 2:36 AM
I estimate it was about 20 metres from shore.  It was in sight of about 60 Mallards that were on the creek. Go up Highway 11 North, turn right onto Fisher, turn left on Main, go up overpass, at bottom of overpass turn right onto Judge.Turn right onto Memorial Drive, turn left onto Queen.  From there you can see the creek, and a couple of places to park.

Re: Hydraulic or Mechanical Steering?
Tue, Oct 20, 1998 8:04 PM
We have the 671 Ti's at 450 hp each with an estimated 1600 hours. So far we have had no problems with the turbos but our surveyor said to expect to replace one of them within the next 500 to 1000 hours. He indicated, as did a mechanic in Ft. Lauderdale, that rebuilt turbos were easily had by anyone with $700.

TWL: Is this outboard worth working on?
Sun, Oct 8, 2000 1:58 PM
They estimate about $600 to replace the seal but warn that damage to the crankshaft may make it unusable. Does this sound right? Is this engine worth working on? Thanks Phil Keys "Kathy K" 1982 Sundowner 30 tug yacht Port Hadlock, WA 98339

I have an estimate for a professional to properly calculate the size and placement . . . and I feel the actual addition is easily accomplished compared to the rest of the work I have to do. Anybody have anything to input . . . for or against the addition?

TWL: Brightwork in the Clear Lake / Houston Area
Mon, Nov 5, 2001 3:04 PM
Suffice it to say that she took 10 weeks to do a job that she estimated would take 3, and the coating is coming off 4 weeks after she "finished." I am now faced with probably having to strip this new work off completely, and starting over from scratch. Does anyone know a GOOD brightwork person in this area?

Replacing rub rail
Tue, Nov 9, 2004 3:33 PM
The surveyor for BoatUS said in his estimate that the only way to replace the rub rail is to remove and replace the teak toe rail. This is a very labor intensive effort, and the toe rail is totally undamaged. Does anyone have any experience with any creative alternative for rub rail repair/replacement?
