TWL: Re: Staying in shape
Mon, Dec 10, 2001 4:18 PM
By pedalling hard, I can increase the speed of the boat by .5 kt while at the same time decreasing fuel consumption to the range that Nordhavn estimates in their advertisements. If I time the pedal pushes properly, the shift in weight fully cancels the rolling propensity of the boat.

The owner is supposed to call me with an estimate for overhaul. Hope that solves the problem. My advice? Repair/replace the wire on the "R" blade. Clean blade and replace/clean the plug itself. If that doesn't solve the problem, get the alternator checked.

I'm going to remove it and send it in for a repair estimate, but my partners have given me the go-ahead to replace it! Now I'm looking at websites and brochures trying to figure out what's what with all the different brands and models out there.

TWL: Re: RE: Taking a fuel tank out of service

. > Felicitations, I'd like to add one proviso to the estimable Mr. Meyer's advice. 15 years ago diesel was a lot more stable than today's hydro-cracked product. If you're going to leave diesel in the tank for long periods then you should invest in some sort of stabilizer additive.

TWL: Fuel: GPH or MPG?
Tue, Oct 22, 2002 1:21 PM
If one knows distance and MPG, the fuel estimate calculation is more direct. Our purpose is to go someplace, seems to me, not just burn fuel. Regards, John Sawyer Freedom Krogen 39

I think the final explosion of Krakatoa in 1883 is estimated to have been about 200 megatons... Best regards, Robert Bryett. mailto:rbryett@mail.com

So, use AMP-HOUR to estimate battery needs/requirements, don't use AMP/Hour at all.

Killer Whales, aka Orcas

We estimated there to be about 5-7 individuals, one being a youngster. They appeared to be feeding on fish schools and traversed back and forth with no discernable pattern. Pretty lucky, as I have not had as good a look in about 10 years and that was up in the San Juan Islands, in Boundary Passage, next to the Canadian Border. Mike Capt.

Re: T&T: Hawse Pipes, Cleats, stern bearings and stuff like that- Lunenburg Foundry
Mon, Aug 22, 2005 7:14 PM
The guy I talked to wouldn't even give me a range for a cost estimate without engineering drawings. I said "hey, are we talking $500 each here?" and he said "could be a thousand each". >>great people to deal with. Yeah, I can see that getting $6K for 6 hawse pipes might make someone rather friendly. Still looking... Keith

Re: T&T: Storm surge question
Sat, Sep 3, 2005 7:08 AM
It shows the estimated storm surge in the area graphically. I can't post it here, but if you want a copy, just e-mail me at keith@anastasia3.com and I'll send it off-list. This model is referenced in the site Greg mentioned below.
