Robins, Siskin and more...
Tue, Feb 9, 2016 11:06 PM
In total, I would estimate I saw over 2,000 Robin, and probably more cuz I stopped counting. I also had on Buell rd on a home site that had lots of young White Birch, 25 Pine Siskin eating the Catkin cones. The Robins were eating the abundant crab apples, and berry bushes loaded with berries seen everywhere.

Nocturnal Migrants This Morning
Fri, Aug 30, 2019 4:26 PM
Though it is certainly difficult to judge, I would estimate there were between 150 and 225 birds. There were smaller numbers of scarlet tanager, rose-breasted grosbeak, and ovenbird — classic August migrants all. These flights are extremely exhilarating to observe. To think these calls have resounded through this forest for thousands of years!

Waterford - birds and ants
Thu, Sep 12, 2019 11:08 AM
I estimated about 300 Laughing Gulls as well as smaller numbers of Ring-billed and Herring. I also had at least two Forster's Terns in with the flock, the first time I've seen terns take insects. The ant swarm itself was quite impressive.

At Lake Wepawaug, there were about 300 (estimate) Canada Geese-mostly resting on the ice and 1 Mute Swan tucked in with them. they were close to the shore, so I was able to see with my binoculars, but I didn't see the PF Goose. This was around 11:45pm. Bev Propen, orange

Re: [CT Birds] BLACK TERN Milford Point

Later, I walked out on the Milford Pt tidal flats / gravel bars during low tide, and found 2 BLACK TERNS (adult starting to molt, and an apparent juvenile with much white on forehead, neck, and underparts) and 9 ROSEATE TERNS (all adults; 1 banded) among an estimated 700 Common Terns.

At Lake Wepawaug- When I first got there, there were about 100 Canada geese (small number for that location), but as I was leaving 30 minutes later, several large, noisy flocks flew in (estimate of another 300)-did a brief scan, but didn't see any unusual geese. 19 Ring necked ducks, 2 Common Mergansers, 1 Pied Bill grebe, 10 mallards, 2 American black ducks

Milford highlights 9/26
Mon, Sep 26, 2022 10:35 PM
Milford, Milford Point - For at least third day (thanks George Amato) a huge flock of an estimated 2500 Laughing Gulls feeding on baitfish on the Sound and roosting on sandbars, between Charles Is and the Housatonic River mouth. Among them were a juvenile Bonaparte’s Gull and 6 Common Terns. Ideal time for a rare jaeger, but none seen.

In this paper, we present a method for determining the number of degrees of freedom of the estimate, which allows the assignment of a confidence interval to a three-cornered-hat stability estimate http://tycho.usno.navy.mil/ptti/ptti2001/poster5.pdf 90th Annual Precise Time and Time Interval (PTTI) Meeting ESTIMATING FREQUENCY STABILITY AND CROSS-CORRELATIONS
