I estimated 1800 blackbirds in groups of several to 200 moving west during my visit of about two and a half hours and I am sure I missed some.Bonus bird was the Blue Grosbeak that landed briefly and then continued west. Yesterday, flock of mixed shorebirds, 300 estimate, Sanderlings and Dunlin at Sasco Creek Beach, Pequot Ave., Southport. Afternoon, Sunday as tide turned, this large flock repeatedly lifted off from exposed substrate to find new roosts. For at least a half an hour this large flock flew back and forth making for an impressive murmuration display.
