Just been reading your adventures with 3 Cs clocks, a mountain and 3 kids, but I can't make the estimate of time dilation work out.

Incorrect disk throughput measurement in rx_samples_to_file
Tue, Jan 14, 2025 4:40 PM
Hi, The rx_samples_to_file example uses 'dd' to estimate disk throughput. It is not done correctly. The code below uses /dev/random as the data source. This was OK for old SATA drives, but for fast NMVE drives the rate is limited by the random number generator (which maxes out at around 1 GB/s on a modern machine).

Re: Actual measured counter performance with slow drifting input frequency
Mon, Mar 10, 2025 12:04 AM
To be more precise, it uses average of start and stop events for frequency estimation. Linear regression / Least Square fit counters adds another component getting improved performance in it's frequency estimation. I would designate these as Pi, Delta and Omega type frequency estimators to be inline with IEEE Std 1139.

It makes the search a little more challenging. ___________________ ___________________ The cost estimate issue: So far, I am generally on track with the original estimate. Michael's estimate information was accurate.

Cruising at 7 knots +/-, I am estimating a run from Marco Island to Marathon to be about 11 +/- hours. The other boats that I am cruising with are all go-fast boats and not a trawler like mine. I don't expect anyone to lag behind at my speed so will likely be going it alone.

Beneteau's So-called "Greatest Loop"

Surely I can't be the only person who estimates that the timetable for that is totally fraught with booger-bears? Are they unaware of the "old saw" that the worst thing you can have when boating is a schedule? Are those folks totally ignorant of times to get through locks and speed limits in various places in both Canada and USA??

I didn't take time to count them but 300 would be a conservative estimate. Most of them appeared to be Horned Lark but I could see 20 Snow bunting on the outer edge of the flock when they went up. _________________________________________________________________ Windows Liveā„¢: Keep your life in sync. http://windowslive.com/explore?
