Wed, May 23, 2001 8:12 PM
I was talking to a welder who is putting together an estimate for aluminum fuel tanks. He noted three things about the old steel tanks.

TWL: Upholstery refurb - SEA / PDX area

It's a small boat and I got sticker shock when we started to estimate nearly 50 yds... oh boy I'm glad she owes me this huge favor 'cause that means this would be a 2.5K job on a 20k boat otherwise!! Would love suggestions for places to shop in the BC/WA/north OR area for DIY fabric, preferably marine-ish man-mades.

:>) This sounds VERY high to replace 8 motor mounts... suggest you get another estimate, as they shouldn't cost more than maybe $1,000 at most, including parts and labor, and thats if alignment takes a long time! Ray B. m/v MOJO

Weight of fuel tank

BUT based on recent experience in helping replace a "black iron" tank of similar size, I would estimate that it weighs about 150 lbs. Two relatively fit people could move it easily. Larry Z

I assume they are likely to put out a best estimate as quickly as possible for tremors that appear to be sizable, rather than wait and have those in danger not informed. Mike Capt. Mike Maurice Tualatin(Portland), Oregon

That's when the clock starts on their 6-8 week processing estimate. So plan on AT LEAST 3 months to get it back. And this was a RENEWAL, not new issue.

Dinghy hoist
Sat, Sep 16, 2006 12:44 AM
My estimate is that the dinghy weighs 250 lbs. and the motor weighs 80 lbs. By the time I winch the dinghy up about 10' I am worn out. I am looking for an electric hoist or winch to replace the manual trailer winch. I found a snowmobile winch but would rather use one made for the marine environment. Any ideas?

Actually that chart is the estimated coverage not the actual....It states this in the fine print. Again any one intending to use this offshore or needs to contact their technical dept to make sure you will have coverage.
